KATHY FUNAMOTO
Student and Family Support Mentor
Kathy has a Bachelor of Education degree from McGill University. She is a retired elementary classroom teacher, math department head, enrichment teacher, and former elementary school principal, bringing a wealth of experience in supporting children and families. She works to support individuals with special learning needs. Her passion for enhancing the lives of her students is central to her work, as she works with students’ strengths to build social skills, self esteem, independence and self-advocacy. Building a positive rapport is paramount, as she believes that a positive relationship is a key to success. Kathy typically meets with children in their homes in a variety of areas including social skills development, academic activities, and general emotional support.
